Promotum has been around now for over 25 years as a brand identity I’ve used for IT services offered to those that ask. Promotum offers Web design and consultancy services, desktop support and infrastructure design and advice and training on free and open source software, amongst other things.
Where does the name come from?
Its latin roots mean “to move forward” and its similarity to the word “promote” meant this word was chosen to represent my aim to help you move your business forward and to promote your products or services through the use of technology.
20 years ago this was how many brand identities were chosen. The downside of using a latin root word is that you spend more time answering questions on how its spelled or what it means. It’s not really memorable as there is nothing you can relate it to and few people do latin any more (not that many did 20 years ago either). Brand strategies have moved on since then and many now focus on the psychology of memory and how to make things stick in your mind.
